Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs interested in signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund.

Rasmus Hojlund, who only turned 20 last month, is a very exciting young attacker.

He’s enjoying a strong debut season for Serie A club Atalanta, scoring eight goals in 25 first-team games so far. The centre-forward announced himself to a wider audience with his performances during the international break, too.

Hojlund scored five goals in two games for Denmark during European Championship qualifiers against Finland and Kazakhstan.

According to GOAL, Manchester United are keen on bringing Hojlund to Old Trafford this summer.

However, it is understood that both Chelsea and Bayern Munich are monitoring the Danish talent.

The report does add that the 20-year-old is a Man United supporter, something the Red Devils will hope to use to their advantage.

Chelsea desperately need a new No.9 in the squad for next season.

We would prefer someone with a proven track record of scoring goals at the highest level, albeit that has not always been a guarantee of success at Stamford Bridge.

Hojlund definitely looks like a star in the making with the way his career is heading, but can Chelsea gamble on him this summer?

Gian Piero Gasperini, the current Atalanta manager, has made a comment about Hojlund that is very intriguing.

He thinks the Atalanta striker is similar in stature to Manchester City’s 22-year-old frontman Erling Haaland, who has 42 goals in 37 appearances so far this season.

“He (Hojlund) has very similar characteristics to Haaland. Not just his face!” Gasperini said, as quoted by Football Italia.

“He is so quick. He’s under 11 seconds over 100 metres and that’s not even trying very hard. Considering his height, he has a low centre of gravity and can move his legs very fast. I am convinced he’ll have a great career. He just gets stronger every day.”
