Chelsea have reportedly just made a move to try sign Bayern Munich’s Marcel Sabitzer on transfer deadline day.
Speaking on Sky Sports this afternoon, German reporter Uli Koehler has claimed that Chelsea and Manchester United have made late moves in this window for Sabitzer.
It is understood that the Blues, along with Man United, have made an offer to sign the 28-year-old midfielder.
Apparently, there’s conversations ongoing with Bayern Munich’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic about a potential deal.
Koehler told Sky Sports: “I’ve just got a call that here behind me at the building is Hasan Salihamidzic having his phone in his hand and talking to Chelsea and Manchester United about a deal for Marcel Sabitzer. He has an offer from both clubs.
“He is a very good player and Bayern is ready to give him away on loan or just to sell him, and Chelsea it seems that their [Enzo] Fernandez deal is not working out until tonight so they need a defensive player.”

Chelsea fans have their hearts set on Enzo Fernandez joining from Benfica today, with the speculation flying around about him in the past 24 hours.
Unfortunately, talkSPORT recently delivered a worrying line that Graham Potter’s side are losing belief that they’ll be able to secure a deal for the 22-year-old on deadline day.
This comes at a time when a new name has entered the running as a potential new midfield signing.

Sabitzer, who was compared to David Beckham by the Bundesliga’s official website a couple of years ago, is known for being an excellent set-piece taker.
The Austria international has found it difficult to shine in Bayern colours since joining them in 2021. It’s meant he’s very much been a squad player at the Allianz Arena.
However, he was previously a major success at RB Leipzig and does have a lot of technical qualities in the central midfield position.
