Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Barcelona star Alejandro Balde.
According to Sport, Chelsea are one of the clubs most interested in a move to sign Alejandro Balde.
It is understood that the 19-year-old continues to be in negotiations with Barcelona about his future.
The report explains that Spanish giants Barcelona are making it a priority to keep the teenager at the Camp Nou, with plans to finalise a deal that runs until 2027.
However, Chelsea are keen admirers waiting in the wings for him.
Balde, who was developed in the Barcelona academy, is one of the most exciting young left-backs in the sport right now.
The speedster has quickly established himself as a key first-team player for Barca, creating six assists in 33 games so far this season across all competitions.
In addition, the full-back now has five senior international caps for Spain.
He’s a modern defender with the perfect combination of pace and power in his game, so it’s easy to see why Barcelona are determined to get his long-term future locked down.
Jordi Alba previously claimed Balde is a rising star with an “incredible future” ahead of him.
If you’ve watched Balde in action, you’ll know he’s such an impressive youngster with sky-high potential. In our view, we don’t think Barcelona will allow him to go anywhere.
As for Chelsea, the left-back spot is one area of the pitch where they look fairly secure.
Ben Chilwell is a fantastic option to play as the left-sided defender, especially now he’s rediscovering his best form. He’s got competition from teammate Marc Cucurella, too.
If you want a wildcard option to play for Chelsea at left-back next season, 21-year-old Blues loanee Ian Maatsen would be a good shout.
It’s great to be linked to some of the best young players in the world right now, but Chelsea’s focus should be on the striker position in the summer transfer window.
