Chelsea will be stepping up attempts to sign Southampton’s Romeo Lavia this summer, according to reports.
TalkSPORT claims that Chelsea will be launching their bid to get the 19-year-old ahead of next season.
It is understood that the Blues failed with their attempts to get the teenage midfielder last year, but are ready to try again in the summer transfer window.
The report adds that Southampton will likely be left with little choice but to sell Lavia if they are relegated from the Premier League.
Also, talksSPORT say that Chelsea’s recruitment director Joe Shields was instrumental in signing him for the Saints when he worked at St Mary’s.

90min previously said Southampton will demand £50million to sell Lavia, but it’s unclear on what his valuation will be this summer.
He’s far too good to spend a year in the Championship, so we expect a huge rush if the Saints do go down.
Graham Potter’s side are looking strong right now in the centre of the park with Enzo Fernandez and Mateo Kovacic as a midfield partnership. However, it does still feel like they could use someone else to play the No.6 position.

Described as “extremely talented” by Ralph Hasenhuttl last year, Lavia does look like a star in the making.
At such a young age, he’s walked into a Southampton first-team dressing room this season while they’re in the thick of fighting against Premier League relegation.
However, the all-action midfielder has shown some great maturity to catch the eye in a difficult environment at St Mary’s.
His athleticism and running power immediately stands out. He is technically sound, too.
