Cesar Azpilicueta has reportedly spoken with Brentford’s David Raya about the idea of joining Chelsea.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano recently claimed on Twitter that Raya is expected to leave Brentford this summer after rejecting two contract offers from them.

This comes after The Telegraph reported Chelsea and Manchester United are both interested in signing the £15million-rated goalkeeper ahead of next season.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has now told CaughtOffside that Chelsea captain Azpilicueta, who plays alongside Raya for the Spanish national team, has spoken with the player directly about a switch to Stamford Bridge.

Apparently, Azpilicueta has had conversations with Brentford 27-year-old’s star about his future.

The Blues skipper is the perfect man to pitch the idea of joining Chelsea after spending more than a decade in West London.

Raya is an important player in a Brentford side punching well above their weight in the Premier League.

The gloveman already has eight clean sheets in the league so far this season, with his side actually sat a place above Chelsea in the division table.

He’s extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet, like so many modern keepers. He’s got great reflexes and is a decent shot-stopper, too.

We could definitely picture him fitting into a Graham Potter’s side at Stamford Bridge, but we don’t see a great deal between him and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
