West Brom are reportedly in pole position to sign Chelsea prospect Omari Hutchinson before the close of the January transfer window.

According to Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella, Hutchison is attracting loan interest from Championship clubs West Brom and Wigan. In fact, both second-tier sides have made offers.

Kinsella wrote on Twitter: “Chelsea wonderkid Omari Hutchinson is has loan options on the table to move to West Brom or Wigan. Both would be tough but a great learning curve for the 19-year-old, this one will run late.”

However, it looks like the Baggies are the side that are frontrunners for the Chelsea youngster’s signature.

Kinsella added on Twitter this evening: “West Brom in the driving seat, many of the squad already believe that he will join to help the squad to reach the play-offs.”

Omari Hutchinson interest

Described as “special” by Jim Fraser when he joined Chelsea last summer from Arsenal, Hutchinson is a really exciting talent that may get his crack at first-team football during the second half of the season.

The teenage attacker has played a couple of senior games in Chelsea colours, but there’s big competition for places within Graham Potter’s rather large squad.

For Hutchinson, West Brom could be a really exciting project if a move to the Hawthorns takes place.

The Baggies are just a point outside the Championship play-off spots, so will have plenty to play for in the months ahead.

The Championship has been such a great destination for players such as Reece James and Mason Mount in their youth, which is why Chelsea fans should be pleased by the new rumours.

Hutchinson perhaps looked a tad lightweight in his very small opportunities in the main group, but he’ll come back a different player in the summer with Championship fixtures under his belt.
