Chelsea are reportedly confident they’ll be able to sign Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid on a permanent deal in the summer.

Felix, 23, completed a move from Madrid to west London earlier this week, joining Chelsea on a short-term loan until the end of the season.

The Portuguese attacker has joined up with the Blues squad for the rest of this campaign after struggling to find his very best form in Atletico colours.

Joao Felix future

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea don’t have an option or obligation to buy Felix when his loan runs out at the end of the season.

However, the report says Graham Potter’s side are ‘confident’ they would be able to sign the 23-year-old permanently should they wish to.

It remains to be seen how much he would cost or whether the Blues would like him on a long-term deal, but there’s certainly been a buzz within the fanbase around his name.

Felix was actually sent off during a hectic club debut in Thursday’s 2-1 defeat to Fulham. He showed more of an attacking threat during his opening hour as a Chelsea player than so many of his teammates this season, though.

Described as “talented” by Kalidou Koulibaly, Felix slotted in seamlessly to the Chelsea XI a couple of days ago.

It’s a massive shame the forward will now miss three games with suspension.

Chelsea’s forward line has been misfiring for quite a few years now, so chasing Felix’s permanent signature would be a no-brainer if he can impress during these next few months.

The early signs are he’ll have no problem adjusting to Premier League football. Let’s see how his career in England unfolds this season.
