Saudi Arabia champions Al Ittihad are very close to signing Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante, according to reports.

The future of N’Golo Kante, 32, has been up in the air because his deal at Stamford Bridge expires this summer.

Now, it looks like the Frenchman is exiting west London after seven fantastic years as a Blues player.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed on Twitter last night that Al Ittihad are “on the verge” of signing Kante on a free transfer.

Apparently, directors from the Saudi Arabia club are now in London to finalise a deal for the central midfielder.

“N’Golo Kanté is on the verge of joining Al Ittihad on free transfer! Final details are being discussed then proposal will be accepted,” Romano said.

“Al Ittihad directors just arrived in London to link up with PIF Saudi delegation to prepare documents.

“€100m per year until 2025.”

Described as “special” by Frank Lampard earlier in the season, Kante has cemented his legacy as one of the best midfielders to ever play in Chelsea colours.

Signed for £30million by Chelsea from Leicester back in 2016, Kante has been a Rolls-Royce in the centre of the park for the club.

He’s won a lot of silverware during a seven-year spell in London, including the likes of the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup. It’s worth adding he’s been integral in the team’s success, too!

We’re very frustrated Kante didn’t get the proper send off a player of his calibre deserves.

It looks like he’s the latest superstar footballer heading to Saudi Arabia. Incidentally, he’s joining up with French colleague Karim Benzema at Al Ittihad.
