Manchester United have reportedly joined the race to sign Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic.
Mateo Kovacic, whose contract expires at Stamford Bridge expires in 2024, is linked with a move away from the Blues.
According to 90min, Man United have entered the race alongside Manchester City and Liverpool in exploring the potential signing of Kovacic.
It is understood that Chelsea want to keep their 28-year-old player, but there has been no progress yet in talks over a contract extension.
The report says that the player’s agent is now weighing up options over his future.

Journalist Ben Jacobs recently told TEAMtalk that Chelsea have changed their minds on Kovacic and now want him to stay in West London.
The £150,000-a-week midfielder has been handed the captain’s armband in recent games, so is clearly admired by Graham Potter.
However, there is now some of England’s biggest teams waiting to pounce and strike a deal for him.
Man United, who are on an upward curve under Erik ten Hag, have signed the likes of Juan Mata and Nemanja Matic from Chelsea in the past. Kovacic making the move to Old Trafford this summer could sting in equal measure, too.

Gabby Agbonlahor described Kovacic as “outstanding” earlier this month, which is an indication of how he’s been playing recently.
The Blues are starting to find some consistency in their starting XI, with Kovacic and Enzo Fernandez working effectively as a pairing in the central midfield position.
We would definitely like to see more of this pivot moving forward.
N’Golo Kane will soon be ready to be thrown into the mix, too!
