Manchester City are one of the sides interested in signing Chelsea youngster Levi Colwill this summer, according to reports.

Levi Colwill, who’s a Chelsea player to come through the Blues academy, is currently enjoying a season-long loan spell at Brighton.

The 20-year-old defender is still a relative novice at first-team level learning the game, but he already looks so comfortable playing on the big stage.

Therefore, it’s no real surprise that the Daily Mail claims that Colwill could be in line for a call-up to the senior England squad later this year.

According to the Evening Standard, Colwill could be at the centre of a transfer saga this summer when he returns from his loan spell.

It is understood that the Blues will hold contract talks with the young centre-back to try keep him, but his future may hang on whether a new deal can be sorted. This is because Todd Boehly doesn’t like players running down their contracts, and Colwill’s Chelsea deal currently runs until 2025.

The report says that Man City really like the Chelsea-owned defender, with Pep Guardiola on the search for a new left-footed centre-half. Apparently, City manager Guardiola would be willing to sell £57million defender Aymeric Laporte and move for Colwill as his replacement at the Etihad Stadium.

In addition, Liverpool and Brighton are two more Premier League sides that would like to sign Chelsea’s highly-rated youngster.

The Evening Standard mentions Chelsea could be forced into selling players to meet Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules this summer.

We’ve got plenty of individuals in our oversized squad that should be on the chopping block way before Colwill, though.

Hopefully, the Blues can sort the 20-year-old a new deal and integrate him into their senior group next season.

He definitely looks good enough and a massive star in the making. A big hint is that the likes of Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp already want to sign him.
