Premier League side Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing a potential move for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher in the summer.

Gallagher, 22, is a talented midfielder to come through the academy ranks at Chelsea, so it’s hugely rewarding to see him in the first-team mix right now at Stamford Bridge.

The senior England international has played 25 Blues games across all competitions this season, with his only goal actually coming against Palace back in October in the league.

He’s currently enjoying a mini purple patch by starting and impressing in the last two top-flight fixtures.

Conor Gallagher interest

According to The Sun, Palace could make their move to try sign Gallagher at the end of the season.

It is understood that Patrick Vieira’s side are quiet in the current January market due to a lack of finances, but they’re being tipped for a more active summer window.

The report explains the Eagles could try sign Gallagher from Chelsea, as well as right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.

Apparently, Palace are waiting to see if Chelsea’s 22-year-old talent becomes available due to a lack of game time. In fairness, Graham Potter is using the box-to-box central midfielder, albeit there’s currently some injuries in the squad.

Gallagher, who’s reportedly valued by Chelsea somewhere between £35-40million, is fighting hard for his spot at the Bridge right now.

Described as “fantastic” by Gareth Southgate, Gallagher definitely brings an energy and passion to the pitch that supporters love.

Does he have the technical ability to be a mainstay in the XI moving forward, though?

He previously enjoyed a fantastic 2021/22 season out on loan with Palace, so surely he would be a dead cert to play every game if he did move across London permanently to Selhurst Park.
