There’s a very good chance Mason Mount will be leaving Chelsea, according to reports.

Mount, who’s been the poster boy at Stamford Bridge in the last few years, is one of the most talented individuals in the Blues squad.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder is enduring a tough season so far, along with most of his teammates. However, he’s been his club’s player of the year in the last two seasons.

With Mount’s contract due to expire in 2024, there’s been a lot of speculation recently about his future.

A new line from talkSPORT today may alarm Chelsea fans that are desperate to keep him.

Mason Mount interest

According to talkSPORT, Premier League side Liverpool are ‘increasingly confident’ they’ll be able to sign Mount from Chelsea.

It is understood that Jurgen Klopp thinks the England international could be a really good fit in his side at Anfield, with plans to rebuild their midfield.

The report adds that sources close to Mount suggest it’s ‘highly likely’ he will become a Liverpool player.

In addition, the playmaker’s contract negotations with Chelsea have come to a standstill.

Journalist David Ornstein recently explained that Mount is one of Chelsea’s players that could be sold in the summer, so a lot of roads do lead to him leaving his boyhood club.

There’s still time for him to perform a U-turn and sign a new deal. You feel he needs to get himself back in the side and in Graham Potter’s good books first, though.

It would have been unimaginable this time last year to consider the idea of selling Mount, but it does go to show how quickly football moves sometimes.

Regardless of his next move, Chelsea’s attacking midfielder is too talented not to recapture his best form.
