Chelsea want to keep £25m player and 24-year-old teammate for multiple years yet

Chelsea have huge faith in both Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic.

That is according to speculation this week.

Chelsea have been very fortunate to own some elite goalkeepers over the years, namely Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois. But there’s a bit more uncertainty nowadays in-between the sticks.

Robert Sanchez, 26, has been the first-choice keeper at Stamford Bridge this season.

His understudy Djordje Petrovic, 24, has still enjoyed plenty of minutes himself this campaign while Sanchez has missed the last month through injury.

We’re doubtful that either have the potential to grow into world-class goalkeepers, but there’s content from within the club with the duo.

The Evening Standard claims that Chelsea are happy with Sanchez and Petrovic as their main shot-stoppers for the foreseeable future.

We do fear that the Blues will eventually need to upgrade their No 1 position if they want to get back to competing for trophies across the board.

Both Sanchez and Petrovic look steady at Premier League level, but still there’s the odd moment of uncertainty. For Sanchez, his work with the ball at his feet is suspect. Meanwhile, Petrovic could command his box way better.

Chelsea support Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic

Football.London claimed earlier in the season that Chelsea have been pleased with Sanchez’s performances following his summer arrival from Brighton. He’s turned out to be a shrewd £25m signing (Sky Sports).

Similarly, journalist Fabrizio Romano reported via X last month that Chelsea are ‘very happy’ with Petrovic right now. The 24-year-old is settling quickly during his first spell in English football.

We hope that either of the goalkeepers can prove us wrong to develop into a top-class gloveman!
