Chelsea could find themselves in a position to sign one of their top targets very soon.

In recent weeks, Chelsea‘s focus has been on selling players in order to balance the books, and they could be about to sanction another exit.

AC Milan are thought to be closing in on Christopher Nkunku in a deal that should free up funds and space for the Blues to make another signing or two.

Bayer Leverkusen reportedly made an offer for Nkunku, but the San Siro appears to be the destination for the forward.

Chelsea willing to go all out to sign Fermin Lopez

Nkunku’s expected move to Milan could help facilitate the arrival of Fermin Lopez from Barcelona.

Chelsea are keen on the player’s signature, and it has been claimed that conversations have already been held between Enzo Maresca and Lopez.

A report from Sport also claims that Chelsea are willing to do “everything possible” to bring the attacking midfielder to Stamford Bridge before the transfer window closes.

According to the outlet, there is a €58m (£50m) offer on the table, giving both Barcelona and Lopez something to think about.

Xavi Simons had looked to be Chelsea’s No.1 target for the No.10 position, but the Blues are starting to pivot away from him and towards Lopez by the looks of things.

That is great news for Thomas Frank, as Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in Simons. It will now be interesting to see which attacking midfielder Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley get their hands on.

What Fermin Lopez has told people about his future

Sport’s report says Lopez’s preference is to remain at Barcelona and he has told those close to him that. Yet a switch to west London cannot be ruled out.

At the same time, it has also been reported that Lopez is giving serious thought to joining Chelsea.

If he does, then Maresca will have his alternative to Cole Palmer, though that alternative could still end up being Simons. A lot is up in the air at the moment.
