Chelsea are prepared to take a gamble on Dusan Vlahovic’s fitness and sign him from Juventus this summer.

That is according to a report from The Daily Mail.

They claim that Chelsea have re-opened talks with Juventus over the sale of Romelu Lukaku. The same deal could see Dusan Vlahovic move in the opposite direction and arrive at Stamford Bridge, though.

It is understood that Vlahovic’s wages have previously been an issue for the Blues, who are going through the process of removing their wage structure.

The report says that Chelsea are willing to take a risk on the 23-year-old’s fitness problems by signing him. In addition, Blues head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of his.

If it means getting Romelu Lukaku off the books, we can certainly see the appeal of making this deal work with Juventus.

There’s still work to be done in terms of agreeing the payment structure for a Vlahovic-Lukaku swap deal, so we’ll see what happens with that moving forward. The report above mentions the Blues paying between £21.5million and £38.5m on top of the exchange.

Vlahovic scoed 10 goals in 27 Serie A appearances last season for Juventus, but Chelsea are convinced they want him in their squad for the upcoming campaign.

The Serbian frontman has proven he’s a fantastic well-rounded striker with physicality and mobility around the box, so you would guess he could do well in the Premier League.

However, the pre-season form of Nicolas Jackson in Chelsea colours has some fans thinking the club may have now found an answer to the long-term No 9 problem.

What sort of message will it send to Jackson if the Blues now recruit Vlahovic in the same window?
