Chelsea could get a free run at one centre-forward this summer.
The Blues continue to be linked with several different strikers as they look to boost their options up front.
Chelsea only really had Nicolas Jackson this season after Armando Broja’s injury problems and his eventual loan move to Fulham.
Jackson did not do too badly, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in 35 Premier League appearances.
However, it was not enough to get Chelsea back into the Champions League, so up front is an area they definitely need to strengthen.
Chelsea and Tottenham considering move for striker
Chelsea and their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur could end up making a move for the same No.9 this summer.
According to a report from Sportslens, both clubs, as well as West Ham United, are considering going after Brentford’s Ivan Toney.
However, it also claims that there is a feeling that Chelsea are the only side who would pay £60m, which is how much the Bees could end up demanding for their talisman.
It is a lot of money for a 28-year-old, but Toney has proven himself in the Premier League.
The England international only scored four goals this season but did manage to net 20 the campaign before that.
Ivan Toney can still be a good option for Chelsea
Toney did not have the best campaign, though he missed a large chunk of it because of an eight-month ban.
He does not look to be at the top of Chelsea’s list either. It has been claimed that Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is Todd Boehly’s No.1 target.
However, if the Blues cannot sign Osimhen, Toney would still be a good alternative to the Nigerian despite the above.
Again, the Brentford star has already shown he can deliver in the Premier League.
In a better team like Chelsea, you would expect the goals to start flowing in again for Toney, who has been described as “remarkable” in the past by his manager Thomas Frank.
