Chelsea would prefer to sell David Datro Fofana this summer than send him out on loan.
That is according to well-respected journalist Simon Phillips.
Chelsea signed David Datro Fofana back in January from Molde, where he scored 24 goals in 65 games for their first team.
However, the 20-year-old striker has struggled to make an impact during his first six months at Stamford Bridge.
Now, fresh speculation suggests that the Blues may be prepared to offload the Ivory Coast international already.

Phillips has explained on his Substack that Chelsea are open to selling Fofana in this summer transfer window if they can.
It is understood that there’s a chance the centre-forward does leave on loan, but the current preference is to find a permanent transfer.
He added that Frank Lampard and the coaching staff weren’t impressed by the youngster in training during the last couple of months.
It’s very concerning to hear Fofana is standing out for the wrong reasons in training, which does make you doubt if he’ll ever be good enough for the Chelsea first team.

This Fofana update comes shortly after claims that he’s already attracting transfer interest this summer.
Fanatik have claimed this week that Turkish club Galatasaray are interested in signing Fofana on loan. In fact, Galatasaray officials are scheduled to be in London this week to discuss a potential move.
There may be a desire from Chelsea to cash in and sell Fofana immediately this summer, but we like the idea of the young forward spending time out on loan to help develop his game.
