Chelsea have reportedly decided that they’d prefer to sell their young attacker rather than loan him out.

There’s now two weeks left of this busy summer transfer window, so how much more business will we see Chelsea conduct? On paper, the Blues still need to offload several individuals, whether that’s permanently or on loan.

Chelsea have already sold the likes of Ian Maatsen, Lewis Hall and Omari Hutchinson in the last month. Meanwhile, youngsters such as Alfie Gilchrist and Gabriel Slonina have secured loan moves for their development. Incidentally, local media loved Gilchrist’s Sheffield United debut.

However, it does still feel like Enzo Maresca’s squad needs trimming down quite a bit more.

Chelsea would be happier selling Angelo Gabriel

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea would prefer to sell Angelo Gabriel during this summer window rather than send him out on loan again.

It is explained that the 19-year-old winger is expected to leave following the recent arrival of Pedro Neto at Stamford Bridge.

The report says that Turkish club Besiktas have registered an interest in taking Angelo on loan. Chelsea are actually looking to sell the Brazilian teenager, though.

If the Blues can’t find a permanent transfer, they could decide to soften their stance and send him out on loan for another year.

BBC Sport’s report explains that Chelsea paid £13m to sign Angelo from Santos in July 2023, which was followed up by a year in France with Strasbourg. The young right-winger did have injury problems during last season’s loan spell, but he still got four assists in 25 appearances for Strasbourg.

Many Chelsea fans wanted Angelo in the first team next season, but now his future in West London is in doubt.

This seems harsh

If Angelo is sold by Chelsea in the next fortnight, it would feel incredibly harsh on the player himself.

The exciting attacker was signed by the Blues a year ago and during his first season showed glimpses of serious potential during his loan in France. Therefore, the rumours now linking him with a permanent exit seems farcical.

It sounds like the South American talent could leave Chelsea without ever getting the chance to make his competitive debut for them.
