Chelsea are now beginning to trim down a very large squad with sales and loans just in time for the upcoming season.
The Blues go into the 2024/25 campaign with a sense of the unknown under new head coach Enzo Maresca, but one thing that’s the same is the group looks far too big right now.
Therefore, it’s no surprise the likes of Omari Hutchinson, Lewis Hall and Ian Maatsen have left permanently this summer. On top of that, Chelsea have loaned out Andrey Santos, Alfie Gilchrist and new signing Aaron Anselmino this month.
Enzo Fernandez sent a welcome message to Anselmino about joining Chelsea, as quoted by Ole. The 19-year-old centre-back has officially signed for the Blues this week, but he’s immediately returned to Boca Juniors on loan to continue his development.

Eddie Beach set for loan transfer
According to Football.London, Chelsea youngster Eddie Beach is expected to join League One club Crawley Town on loan.
It is explained that the 20-year-old goalkeeper will soon move to the third division side after spending his pre-season schedule with the first-team group.
Beach was with Chelsea’s main squad in the United States for their pre-season tour, but he didn’t get any minutes in the five friendly matches.
He’s yet to make his competitive first-team debut in Chelsea colours since he joined them from Southampton in 2022, experiencing loans at Chelmsford and Gateshead in recent seasons. Now, it’s a decent step up for him as he’s set to join a club higher up the English football ladder.
Crawley are preparing for a season in League One after their promotion via the League Two play-offs in May.
Chelsea stockpiling goalkeepers
It’s getting to a point where Chelsea fans are frustrated with the amount of goalkeepers on their books.
Djordje Petrovic finished last season as the number one keeper at Stamford Bridge, but the fact he’s not even the picture right now means youngsters such as Beach are so far down the pecking order.
It’s looking like shot-stoppers Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez will battle it out for the gloves this campaign.
Hopefully, Chelsea can finally find a top-class goalkeeper again, something which is really holding this team back right now.
