Christopher Nkunku could leave Chelsea this summer, with Bayern Munich keen on the forward.
Last weekend, the reliable Fabrizio Romano shared that Bayern were in contact with Chelsea over signing Nkunku.
However, the Bundesliga champions are yet to reach any sort of agreement with their English counterparts to sign the Frenchman.
While Bayern want to bring Nkunku to the Allianz Arena, their preference seems to be a loan deal, which is causing issues.

Christopher Nkunku wants permanent Chelsea exit
According to TEAMtalk, Bayern thought signing Nkunku on loan during this transfer window would be possible.
However, as per the same outlet, Nkunku has made it clear that he is not open to a loan, while Chelsea also want the 27-year-old to leave Stamford Bridge permanently.
Bayern appear to be big fans of Nkunku, so they may make an offer to sign him permanently eventually.
It is thought that Bayern’s director of sport Max Eberl “loves” Nkunku’s versatility, with the Frenchman able to play in most positions across the frontline.
A summer in which Chelsea have really focused on strengthening their attack has seen Nkunku fall down the pecking order in west London.
Joao Pedro, Liam Delap, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian have all been added to Enzo Maresca‘s squad, and the Blues may not be finished yet.
The Club World Cup winners still want to recruit RB Leipzig’s Xavi Simons and Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho before deadline day.
Super-agent Ali Barat is working on Simons’ transfer, but Chelsea have not been able to agree a fee with Leipzig so far.

Christopher Nkunku’s record in Germany
It is not a surprise to hear that Bayern are interested in signing Nkunku. The France international has played in Germany before and was excellent during his time there.
At Leipzig, Nkunku was able to score 70 goals in 172 appearances before his move to Chelsea in 2023.
| Christopher Nkunku’s RB Leipzig record | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2022/23 | 36 | 23 | 9 |
| 2021/22 | 52 | 35 | 20 |
| 2020/21 | 40 | 7 | 11 |
| 2019/20 | 44 | 5 | 16 |
| Total | 172 | 70 | 56 |
Unfortunately for Chelsea, Nkunku has not managed to hit those heights in west London, which is why a return to Germany now looks possible.
