Roma believe they now need to offer Paulo Dybala a pay rise in order to prevent him from joining Chelsea this summer.
That is according to Corriere dello Sport.
So, what is the latest on Paulo Dybala and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, it appears Mauricio Pochettino is very keen on a linkup with his fellow Argentine at Stamford Bridge.
A story from Roma Press claimed that the 51-year-old has personally asked Todd Boehly to sign Dybala after learning about his €12m (£10m) release clause.
Now – according to Corriere dello Sport – Roma are growing a bit nervous.
The Italian news outlet believe the feeling at the Stadio Olimpico is that Dybala will need to be offered a better contract in make sure he doesn’t leave for Chelsea.

It is also said that Manchester United and Tottenham are keen to sign the 29-year-old this summer, who Paul Pogba once called a “top player” when messaging him on Twitter.
Dybala has worked his way onto Chelsea’s radar after an excellent 2022/23 campaign, in which he scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances.
Chelsea need to be quick in Dybala pursuit
Interestingly, Corriere dello Sport believe Dybala’s £10m release clause expires at the end of July.
Therefore, Chelsea need to be quick if they want to secure the Argentina international’s signature, or else Roma are likely to demand a huge fee beyond that date given his importance to the side.

Dybala’s current terms run until June 2025, so Roma have no need to sell him this summer, meaning Jose Mourinho will probably slap a significant price tag on his No.21’s head once the release clause expires.
So, time is certainly of the essence for Chelsea in this transfer saga – be sure to keep an eye out for developments.
