Corinthians have now stepped up talks with Chelsea over a deal to sell Gabriel Moscardo to the Blues.

That is according to Itatiaia in Brazil.

So, what is the latest on Gabriel Moscardo and Chelsea? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – according to Fabrizio Romano – Chelsea made a bid for the Brazilian wonderkid at the end of August.

Corinthians told Chelsea to pay €25m (£21m) for Moscardo at the time – which would make it a record sale for the Brazilian giants – and talks between both sides continued.

Now – however – Corinthians want to sell the teenager to Chelsea quickly, as they find themselves at risk of losing the South American wonderkid for just 80mR$ (£13m).

Why?

Well, Itatiaia explain how clubs in Brazil have access to Moscardo’s £13m release clause, and the largest sides in Série A are able to afford his £13m release clause.

There is now a fear of one Brazilian club triggering his release clause, hence the reason why Corinthians want to finalise a deal with Chelsea as soon as possible.

Corinthians are also keen to sell Moscardo to Chelsea as the Blues are willing to send him back on loan for the 2023/24 campaign.

Hard for Chelsea fans to get excited about Gabriel Moscardo

While Moscardo seems to be a tremendous talent, these are the type of signings a club makes when things are going very well – icing on the cake additions, if you will.

However, things are not going so well at Chelsea right now – Mauricio Pochettino has overseen just one win from the opening four Premier League outings.

Therefore, Chelsea fans are unable to get excited about these signings for the future when there are so many question marks surrounding the present.

Moscardo is not the only one by any means – Todd Boehly has already signed a number of very young talents, such as Andrey Santos, Cesare Casadei, Angelo Gabriel and more.

If Chelsea cannot sort things out right now at Stamford Bridge, there is no point spending money on gems for the future – these funds may be needed on senior additions very soon if nothing changes.
