Aston Villa could soon face serious competition in their attempt to sign Chelsea star Conor Gallagher this summer.
Conor Gallagher, who’s contact expires at Stamford Bridge next year, is linked in the transfer rumour mill with a potential exit.
The 24-year-old midfielder emerged as one of the top players in the Blues squad last summer, but his sale would generate pure profit on the balance sheet because he’s an academy graduate.
According to The Evening Standard recently, Chelsea will listen to offers in the upcoming window for both Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah.
BBC Sport then reported that Aston Villa have expressed an interest in signing Blues star Gallagher. The player himself is open to staying at Chelsea despite talk of a possible sale, though.

Club prepare bid for Conor Gallagher
The Daily Mail claims that Tottenham are preparing to make an offer for Chelsea’s Gallagher, who’s a target for Villa and Atletico Madrid.
It is understood that Spurs have a ‘strong interest’ in the box-to-box midfielder and sense a chance to secure a good value transfer. With Chelsea under pressure to stay within Premier League’s profit and sustainability (PSR) guidelines, Spurs think they can land a deal before the annual cut off for the club’s accounts on 30 June.
The report adds that Chelsea want a minimum of £50m for Gallagher’s sale.
In addition, all parties would like to resolve Gallagher’s future before the Euro 2024 tournament starts in mid-June, where he’s likely to be part of the England squad.
Chelsea fans must be struggling to watch
If Gallagher does leave, Chelsea supporters are likely to be gutted. A move to rivals Spurs would only worsen the pain, too!
Speaking on talkSPORT (22 April), Joe Cole described Gallagher as “influential” for the Chelsea squad. He was exactly that last season with consistently impressive displays while teammates around him were struggling for form.
Gallagher puts in such reliable performances, whether that’s for England or Chelsea, but the Blues may have backed themselves into a corner by needing to raise cash. It’s another really bad look for the owners if Gallagher is sold this summer.
