Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo wants to give Chelsea time to make a new offer for him.

That is according to Teradeportes.

The Ecuadorian outlet claims that Moises Caicedo‘s people have now spoken to Chelsea in a bid to get them to make an acceptable proposal to Brighton.

They also state that the whole saga has left the 21-year-old confused, which is not too surprising.

Despite having been linked to Chelsea all summer, at one point, it looked like Caicedo would be heading to Liverpool.

On Friday morning, BBC Sport reported that the Reds had agreed a £111m deal with Brighton to sign the Ecuador international.

However, since then, it has been claimed by Sky Sports that Caicedo has actually turned down the chance to join Liverpool for now.

Could Moises Caicedo still move to Liverpool?

It does not seem impossible. Right now, the ball is clearly in Chelsea’s court, but if they do not stump up the money that Brighton want for their midfielder, then a switch to Liverpool could be back on.

The Merseyside outfit are still one of the best clubs in the world and have the sort of manager that most footballers would want to play for in Jurgen Klopp.

However, at present, it appears that Chelsea are back in the driving seat to land Caicedo’s signature. All they have to do is pay the money, which Mauricio Pochettino must be urging them to do.

The Brighton star could really improve a midfield that has been torn apart this summer after the departures of Mason Mount, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

£111m is crazy money even in this day and age, but if Chelsea have got that, which a club of their size must, and Pochettino really wants Caicedo, there is obviously an argument for just going out and buying him now.
