Chelsea are now reportedly confident of signing Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.
According to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs on Twitter, the Blues believe their latest offer for the 33-year-old player will be accepted by Barcelona.
It is understood Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel, who knows Aubameyang well after coaching him at Borussia Dortmund, has spoken to him about a transfer to Stamford Bridge. Tuchel’s now “convinced” that the deal will happen.
In addition, a meeting is set to take place on Thursday to try arrange personal terms.
Aubameyang came off the bench in Barcelona’s opening game of the season at the weekend, but rumours suggest he’s destined to exit the Camp Nou.
The centre-forward only signed for the Spanish giants back in February, scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances for them across all competitions so far.
However, the ex-Arsenal man is being offered a quick route back to London by Chelsea.

Chelsea confident of signing Aubameyang
The fact the Blues are now confident of signing Aubameyang will excite a lot of supporters around West London.
There’s always going to be some scepticism from Chelsea supporters when it comes to signing a new striker given the horrendous record in that department recently.
However, Aubameyang’s phenomenal record during the last five years with Arsenal should allow room for some optimism. He was electric under Tuchel when at Dortmund, too.
Described as “incredible” by Christian Pulisic, Aubameyang definitely has the right profile to come into the Chelsea line-up and score the goals the team so badly needs.
Martin Keown claimed earlier this month he thinks the Barcelona frontman would be a great fit at Stamford Bridge.

It does feel like this Chelsea XI are perhaps just a clinical goalscorer away from really challenging on all fronts.
They were dominant in the 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday in the Premier League, but once again were let down by a lack of clinical finishing.
If Aubameyang does join, you can be certain he’ll get the backing of the fanbase to be a success.
