Chelsea target Marco Verratti is now close to joining Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, after he received the offer of a three-year contract.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano.
So, what is the situation involving Chelsea target Marco Verratti? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well – according to Sky Sports – Chelsea are keen to sign the Italy international this summer, with Liverpool also holding an interest.
It was Kaveh Solhekol who made that claim, saying: “I think their (PSG) valuation is about £70m.
“We have also been told that two Premier League clubs are interested in signing him. The names we were told were Liverpool and Chelsea.”
Now – however – Verratti appears to be the next big name to move to Saudi Arabia.
Romano believes a deal for the PSG No.6 to join Al-Hilal is now at an “advanced” stage, and the deal should be completed soon if all goes to plan.

The reliable Italian journalist wrote on Twitter: “Marco Verratti to Al-Hilal, deal at advanced stages! Saudi club now closing in on agreement with PSG for the Italian midfielder.
“Three year contract offered to Verratti, documents to be prepared/checked soon. Here we go soon — if all goes to plan.”
Who Chelsea could sign instead of Marco Verratti
With the 30-year-old on his way to Saudi Arabia, let’s take a look at some other midfielders Chelsea could sign this summer.
There is, of course, Chelsea’s No.1 target in Moises Caicedo, although the Guardian believe talks with Brighton have hit a wall as neither side can reach an agreement.

As a result, the likeliest midfield arrival for Chelsea as things stand is Romeo Lavia, who was the subject of an approach from the Blues on Wednesday – according to Sacha Tavolieri.
However, Liverpool have already seen a £37m bid rejected, so Chelsea face serious competition for the Belgian.
