'Different solution': Todd Boehly will now offload Chelsea player who Granovskaia wanted to keep - journalist

Todd Boehly is reportedly going against the wishes of Marina Granovskaia to offload Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku on loan this summer to Inter Milan.

The reshuffling of the Blues hierarchy is now starting to take effect under the new ownership at Stamford Bridge.

It’s been confirmed Granovskaia will be leaving her role as Chelsea director, with co-owner Boehly standing in as interim sporting director until a full-time replacement is appointed.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Granovskaia planned to try keep 29-year-old striker Lukaku at Chelsea for another year after a disappointing time last season. However, Boehly is pressing ahead to loan out the Belgian forward.

“Someone internally at Chelsea, including Marina Granovskaia, were looking at the possibility of keeping Romelu Lukaku at the club for one more season. But Todd Boehly wanted a different solution,” Romano explained on his YouTube channel.

Boehly to offload Lukaku

Boehly could make himself very popular with a load of Chelsea fans straight away by helping to oversee the Lukaku transfer.

It didn’t turn out to be the dream return to Stamford Bridge that many expected last year, so getting him out of the club should help lift the pressure on all parties involved. Of course, it’s only a loan deal at this stage that’s being reported.

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen is reportedly one potential replacement for Lukaku next season at Chelsea.

However, it feels like the centre-forward role at Stamford Bridge has been cursed for several years now.

Blues manager Thomas Tuchel needs to ensure he’s got an attack firing in front of goal next season if his side are to really challenge the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool.
