Chelsea may now reportedly be interested in Lyon’s young defender Malo Gusto.

Gusto, who’s just 19, is a French youngster that has already cemented himself as a key starter for Lyon.

The right-back has started all but one of Lyon’s 15 games in Ligue 1 this season, which is quite impressive for a teenager to come out of their academy.

Chelsea interested in Malo Gusto

Well-respected journalist Simon Phillips has now shared that Lyon’s rising star is someone to pop up on the Chelsea transfer radar.

Apparently, the 19-year-old is being monitored by Blues scouts.

“The new one I was told about was Malo Gusto of Lyon, another name that Chelsea are monitoring at the moment, and doing some scouting on in the sense that they might try to bring him in as Reece James’ competition,” Simon Phillips told GIVEMESPORT.

Gusto describes himself as an individual that is “powerful” and “fast”, which should like an ideal mix for Premier League football.

There’s no doubt that Chelsea have to sign a new right-back as soon as possible. Hopefully, the club can even bring in a new full-back during the January transfer window.

Graham Potter previously claimed there’s no like-for-like replacement for James at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues definitely need an alternative option to James, who has had some injury problems and can’t be expected to play every single game when fit.

It’s a no-brainer to try bring in a young full-back to challenge him, with Gusto a new interesting name to crop up.
