Journalist Ben Jacobs has told ‘The Done Deal Show’ that Chelsea’s efforts to sign Moises Caicedo are going to go down to the final seconds of January.
The Blues have made the Ecuador international one of their main targets in an attempt to put the final touches on what has been a remarkable transfer window.
They have given particular interest in strengthening the frontline. Joao Felix, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have all been brought in to try and address the obvious goalscoring issues that have been evident this season.

However, they have so far fallen short of adding in the midfield area.
They have previously attempted to sign Enzo Fernandez, although Benfica have made it clear they will only part ways if his release clause is met.
Now, Jacobs has claimed that it will go down to the wire as to whether they will be able to complete a deal for Caicedo.
Caicedo to go down to the wire
He said: “If Brighton keep saying that they want £80 or £85 million nothing is going to happen. But I think we need to see whether a Chelsea or an Arsenal put their money where their mouth is.
“An offer of £75 million will make things very interesting. Brighton are currently saying no not for sale, but they are also looking for replacements which is a clue that for the right number they will sell now. Therefore, this one is going to go right down to the wire, in terms of the last days, minutes, hours if not seconds of the transfer window.”

Last summer saw the club involved in multiple transfers in the final hours of the window.
They completed the underwhelming signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, however missed out on a deal to bring in Edson Alvarez.
We will have to wait and see what the future holds for Chelsea and Moises Caicedo.
