Enzo Maresca could be about to disappoint a lot of Chelsea fans with one transfer decision he may have to make between now and deadline day.
Chelsea are keen on signing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig, and a lot of Blues supporters would like to see that deal get wrapped up.
However, if it comes down to choosing between Simons and another one of Chelsea‘s transfer targets, it does not look like Maresca is going to pick the 22-year-old.
Ahead of next Monday’s deadline, the Club World Cup winners are also thought to have strong interest in Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho and Barcelona’s Fermin Lopez.

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca prioritising a winger over Xavi Simons
It may not be the news that Chelsea fans want to hear, but right now, Garnacho seems to be a more likely signing than Simons.
Journalist Simon Phillips has shared on his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea that Maresca is prioritising a new winger over an attacking midfielder.
While Simons can play on the left, his preferred position is behind the striker. In the past, Simons has spoken about his favourite role, stating that it is indeed the No.10 spot.
Garnacho, on the other hand, is an out-and-out winger. Based on the above, then, it means that Maresca would probably prefer the Argentina international over Simons at this moment in time.
Like Simons, Lopez is also an attacking midfielder who can play out wide, so he is likely to be below Garnacho on Maresca’s shortlist as well.

Xavi Simons could join one of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals instead
If Chelsea decide to cool their interest in Simons for whatever reason, the Dutchman could still get a move to the Premier League this summer.
It has been claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Xavi Simons‘ situation and could make a move for him as Chelsea’s discussions with Leipzig drag on.
If the Netherlands international ends up in north London, you suspect a lot of Chelsea fans will be disappointed.
