Everton have made a late approach at the end of the summer transfer window to try sign a Chelsea player.

Premier League side Everton have reportedly attempted in the final hours of deadline day to bring a Chelsea man to Goodison Park. The deadline officially closed for clubs at 11pm on Friday night, but that can extend until 1am if a deal sheet is submitted in time.

It was reported on deadline day by journalist Ben Jacobs via X that Ipswich Town were in advanced talks to sign Chelsea’s Armando Broja. Apparently, they were optimistic about wrapping up a deal for the 22-year-old Blues striker.

The latest reports suggest that Armando Broja could be on his way to Merseyside, though.

Everton approach Armando Broja

According to The Athletic, Everton have made a late approach to try sign Chelsea’s Broja in the summer window.

It is explained that Sean Dyche’s side have proposed a season-long loan deal with an option to buy for £30m.

The report adds that the Toffees are long-term admirers of the Albania international and have up until 1am to complete his transfer after submitting a deal sheet before the 11pm deadline.

Apparently, Broja is expected to back from his current foot injury in mid-October.

Good move for Armando Broja

Hopefully, there’s enough time for the clubs to complete this deal. If so, Broja should be delighted with moving to Everton for this 2024/25 season, the club’s final one at Goodison Park.

He’s not in the plans of Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, so he desperately needed a move to go and play football elsewhere. It’s obvious that his form has declined in recent times and he’s struggled with injuries in his short career so far, but a fresh start at Everton could be the making of him.

It’ll be frustrating for Broja that he can’t hit the ground running at a new club straight away because of his injury, but there’s no doubt that Everton need some more attacking firepower.
