A few weeks ago, Chelsea fans were hoping BlueCo could raid Como for manager Cesc Fabregas. Now, the Stamford Bridge icon is hoping to sign one of Chelsea’s players.

Fabregas was high on Chelsea’s list as the season drew to a close, but immediately after the FA Cup final, Chelsea announced that Xabi Alonso would take charge. Fabregas was always likely to remain with Como.

Especially after the Chelsea icon had guided Como to Champions League football in only his second full season. Even more impressive, given it is only Como’s second season back in the top flight of Italy.

Now, after links with Chelsea throughout the early part of the summer, Fabregas is looking to raid his old side for a surprise player. Trevoh Chalobah is a target for Fabregas as the summer window hots up.

Trevoh Chalobah is open to joining Cesc Fabregas’ Como

Chalobah remains a key player at Chelsea and has been called up to England’s World Cup squad in the last few days, replacing Tino Livramento. But he is one of two players with two years left on their deals.

There are murmurs that Chalobah could leave this summer, given the number of centre-backs Alonso is set to inherit. With Levi Colwill, Jorrel Hato and Josh Acheampong set to stay, Chalobah could depart.

Fabrizio Romano reported on his YouTube channel that Como and Fabregas want to sign Chalobah, and actually, Chalobah would be open to a move to Italy this summer. But there is a price difference.

“A name Como really likes is Trevoh Chalobah, central defender for England, recently called up to the World Cup in place of the injured Tino Livramento. Chalobah is an important player at Chelsea.

“In my personal opinion, he would be a great signing. The player had already been close to Inter in the past – close is a big word – but he had been negotiated by Inter; it opened up an Italian possibility.

“From what I understand, Chalobah would really like the idea of playing in Italy, but at the moment, in terms of valuations, Como and Chelsea are very, very far apart. Today we’re talking about it as a desire.

“A dream for Como, but reality probably won’t lead to today, at least to an agreement on the conditions requested by Chelsea. So, let’s see what happens. But today, there’s a very large gap on this operation.”

Why Chalobah will be tempted by Como move…

Currently, Chalobah is not the first choice at Chelsea. Colwill is considered top of the pecking order, while Hato is probably best to go alongside Colwill at the moment. Chelsea also want to make a new signing.

Trevoh Chalobah has been getting away it for too long 😑

This is alarming!

Axel Disasi, Benoit Badiashile, Wesley Fofana, Mamadou Sarr and plenty of other centre-backs at Chelsea could be candidates for a sale, as BlueCo look to raise funds after missing out on European qualification.

Como are in the Champions League, and Chalobah could well be a starting option for the Serie A side. If he needs an example set, then he only has to look at Fikayo Tomori’s spell in Italy since leaving Chelsea.

Champions League football, working under Fabregas and more than likely, a starting option in defence. It is perfectly understandable that Chalobah would be tempted by the move if the clubs do agree a fee.
