'Explored this possibility': Romano claims Chelsea are involved in a simply 'crazy' transfer saga this summer

Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs involved in this summer’s race to try sign Leeds United star Raphinha.

Well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has delivered an update on his YouTube channel about Raphinha’s future, describing it as a “crazy” transfer saga.

It is understood Chelsea and Tottenham have “explored the possibility” of moving for the 25-year-old star. They’ve even been in close contact with people close to him, too.

Apparently, Barcelona have had personal terms agreed for the Leeds attacker for some time, but they’re not close yet to matching Leeds’ asking price of around €65/70million (£56/60million). The fact the Yorkshire club avoided relegation last season ensured a relegation clause wasn’t triggered in his contract, something with Barca were banking on.

Romano adds Arsenal are another Premier League club in the mix for the winger and are in direct contact discussing a potential transfer.

Race to sign Raphinha

It’s no big surprise to see the Leeds talisman attracting the interest of so many top clubs.

He’s been a standout individual during two years at Elland Road, scoring 17 goals in 64 Premier League appearances along the way from the right-winger position.

The left-footer is a trickster that loves running at opposition full-backs with pace. He’s got nine senior Brazil caps and counting, too.

Chelsea have been linked with an entire host of attackers already this summer, with Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling a winger someone the Blues reportedly want at Stamford Bridge next season.

The current crop of forwards on Chelsea’s books must be contemplating their roles amid all this transfer speculation.
