'Explosive' winger Chelsea want is the fastest player in the PL this season, he's even quicker than Haaland

Chelsea target and Everton winger Anthony Gordon has been clocked as the fastest player in the Premier League this season.

Gordon, 21, is a Liverpool-born attacker that was at the centre of a transfer saga in the summer.

The Toffees star ended up staying at Goodison Park for this season, scoring three goals in 15 appearances so far.

Football London claims that Chelsea remain interested in signing Gordon after links to him in the summer. There’s rival interest from Tottenham, though.

Described as “explosive” by Andros Townsend, Gordon is an exciting player that is rapid across the pitch.

His speed and sharpness is what makes him such a massive threat, albeit he’s still a raw talent that will need to improve across most areas with more experience.

Gordon fastest in the Premier League

The Premier League has shared the division’s fastest players this season on its official Twitter account.

Gordon sits top of the pile with a breathtaking 36.6km/h.

That means he’s ahead of second-placed Darwin Nunez (36.5km/h) and third placed Erling Haaland (36.2km/h).

Many neutral fans may expect Manchester City’s superstar Haaland to be the fastest with the way he eats up the pitch when he gets going, but that’s one record he doesn’t actually have this campaign.

Gordon is a dynamic young winger with plenty of skill, energy and pace.

It’s going to be interesting to see his development over the next few years because he’s got most attributes that just need finetuning.

In our view, he’s not ready yet to walk into the Chelsea line-up and become the talisman at Stamford Bridge.

His form has been a little mixed this season with Everton since the transfer rumours, so he just needs to focus on getting back to his best and developing his game.

However, this is definitely you can picture at a bigger later down the line when he’s more experience.
