Fabrizio Romano: Chelsea prepared to let go of six players this summer

As many as six Chelsea players could leave the club in the summer transfer windows as the plan to rebuild the squad continues, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is safe to say that the current size of the Chelsea squad has been more problematic for Graham Potter than it is beneficial.

Having multiple options in every position is good, but when a manager has to leave so many players out of the squad every game, some will inevitably be unhappy with the decisions.

So, a Chelsea summer clear-out is rather expected and, according to Romano, six players are likely to leave, either permanently or on loan.

The first two seem obvious; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Hakim Ziyech.

Aubameyang’s removal from Chelsea’s Champions League squad suggested that he is not seen as an important member of the squad, despite Potter’s insisting otherwise, while the latter was very close to joining Paris Saint-Germain on the deadline day.

The third player whom Romano claims could leave Chelsea permanently is Pulisic.

“According to my information, Chelsea were open to letting him go in January,” the Italian journalist explained on his YouTube channel when speaking about the American.

“But Christian Pulisic had an injury so it was not possible to proceed with a solution.

“There is a possibility for him to leave in the summer, and it will depend on the proposals.

“Chelsea always want around €40million (£35.5m) to let Pulisic leave, with a lot of interest across Europe.”

Conor Gallagher is in a similar situation.

Romano mentions that Chelsea received a bid worth £40m plus add-ons from Everton for the midfielder but the player turned down the proposal.

Still, if the club receive another significant offer for the academy graduate in the summer, they would allow him to leave.

Meanwhile, two youngsters; Gabriel Slonina and David Datro Fofana, are expected to leave on loan.

Regular first-team football obviously will beneft these two, especially Slonina who has been with the development squad in the last few months.
