Chelsea are among the clubs in contact with Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix‘s agent, Jorge Mendes, as his client is looking for potential new clubs.

The Blues could be in the market for a new attacker in January as Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are both linked with potential Stamford Bridge exit.

The biggest problem with losing a player in January is usually finding a suitable replacement. Teams are understandably reluctant to let go of their players, especially most valuable assets mid-season.

This time, however, a high-profile attacker could be available, albeit for a big price tag.

According to Romano, Felix wants to leave Atletico in 2023 and the Spanish club is also open to listening to offers for the player.

“His agent, Jorge Mendes, is exploring possibilities with clubs,” the Italian journalist said on his YouTube channel.

“For the moment, there are still negotiations ongoing with Atletico, but his agent is trying to find a solution.

“With [Paris Saint-Germain], the relationship is great, with Chelsea and Manchester United, there are always conversations, so it’s normal now to explore the market.”

However, Romano also pointed out that there is currently nothing advanced with any of these clubs.

Atletico would also reportedly demand more than €100million (£86m) for the Portugal international, having invested €120m for the player back in 2019.

Whether Felix is worth the asking price is subjective, but the former Benfica man certainly has the potential.

He has already had three goals and three assists in 12 La Liga appearances (five starts) this season and racked up one goal and two assists for Portugal in the 2022 World Cup.
