Fabrizio Romano has claimed on his YouTube channel that Enzo Fernandez is not yet completing a medical ahead of his potential move to Chelsea.

This is despite their being a growing optimism amongst the club that they will be able to secure the deal before tonight’s transfer deadline.

The midfielder represents Chelsea’s last real chance at making another addition in what has already been an extremely beneficial January.

A player in that position is seen as the final touches, with them already being put off a deal for Moises Caicedo by a stubborn Brighton negotiation technique.

Romano has claimed that the Blues are yet to receive the green light from Rui Costa, with things set to go down to the wire.

Romano offers Fernandez update

He said: “As of now, nothing is done for Enzo Fernandez. The feeling in the afternoon was very optimistic. Chelsea are still waiting for the green light from Rui Costa.

“Chelsea are prepared to let Enzo Fernandez to undergo a medical in Portugal if they find an agreement with Benfica, but he is not doing any medical tests right now.”

With just four hours to go before the window slams shut, it is set to be an extremely nervy time for Chelsea fans, especially after seeing Jorginho make the move to Arsenal.
