Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez is not a target for Chelsea at this moment in time.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking about reports linking Santiago Gimenez to Chelsea on his YouTube channel.
Over the last couple of months, there has been a lot of talk about the 22-year-old potentially moving to the Premier League, with Chelsea named as one possible destination.
He has been in fine form for Feyenoord this season, scoring 13 goals in just 12 Eredivisie appearances.
Chelsea not focusing on Santiago Gimenez
According to Romano, Chelsea are not actually targeting Gimenez right now.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, the Italian journalist said: “From what I’m hearing, at the moment, Chelsea are focused on different names. So with Santi Gimenez, at the moment, it’s not something like a priority for Chelsea.
“They know the situation so well, so they know also that Santi Gimenez could be available for something around €45m (£39m) in January. But at the moment, nothing concrete ongoing.”

Similar to Nicolas Jackson
Gimenez is still 22 and has no Premier League experience. Considering that, he could be quite a similar signing to Jackson, who is the same age as the Mexico international.
With Chelsea having Jackson, who has been in top form in the Blues’ last two games, Gimenez is not really the profile of striker Mauricio Pochettino needs.
The Argentine requires someone more proven, someone who is guaranteed to score in the Premier League ideally.
That is not always easy to find, which is why Chelsea may have to consider options like Gimenez. But given that they already do have a couple of young strikers in Jackson and Armando Broja on their books, it makes sense to now go out and get a clear upgrade if they want to sign a new No.9.
Looking at his goal record, you can argue that Gimenez would be just that. But the Eredivisie is obviously not the strongest division and you would have to question whether his form there would translate over to the Premier League. Honestly, the Feyenoord talisman just looks like he would be another striker gamble for Chelsea.
