Karim Benzema could be an incredible addition to Chelsea’s squad this month, but it looks like the Blues will struggle to sign the striker if they do have an interest in him.
Karim Benzema is one centre-forward option Chelsea may have to consider on a short-term deal, a report from The Telegraph recently suggested.
However, according to Fabrizio Romano’s Substack, it will not be easy for the Blues to sign either the Al-Ittihad star or Roberto Firmino. He also wrote in his column: “I’m told there’s nothing concrete or advanced.”
The Athletic’s David Ornstein has also given an update on Benzema’s future amid the Chelsea links.
With the 36-year-old seemingly off the table, then, Chelsea are starting to run out of options in their search for a new striker.

Difficult for Chelsea to sign Karim Benzema this month
Benzema only joined Al-Ittihad last summer and is one of the biggest names in the Saudi Pro League.
Considering that, it is not a shock to hear that doing a deal for the Frenchman during this transfer window is going to be difficult. His current club, understandably, will be very reluctant to lose him.
You can see why Chelsea would want him, though. Benzema is one of the best forwards of this era, with his former manager Carlo Ancelotti hailing him as a “complete player” (Marca).
Unfortunately for Mauricio Pochettino, it does not look like he is going to get him this month. So his employers are either going to have to sign someone else now or in the summer, which is starting to look more likely.
There should be more options for Chelsea then. Clubs will be more open to selling their players with it not being the middle of the season. In an ideal world, though, Pochettino would probably want someone now.
