Chelsea defender Axel Disasi is being linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge despite having only arrived in the summer.

Chelsea signed Axel Disasi from AS Monaco for £38.8m (Sky Sports) back in August, but a report from TEAMtalk has now claimed that the Blues are already open to selling him.

However, journalist Fabrizio Romano has told CaughtOffside that the centre-back’s situation at Stamford Bridge has not changed.

Disasi has been a key player under Mauricio Pochettino this season, making 14 appearances in the Premier League so far.

Former Chelsea defender Mario Melchiot has some concerns about the Frenchman, though.

Fabrizio Romano gives update on Axel Disasi

According to Romano, there has not been any kind of development in regard to Disasi’s future.

Speaking to CaughtOffside, he said: “I have to say I’m not aware of anything changing with Axel Disasi’s situation, despite rumours that he could already be a candidate to leave the club in January.

“Disasi only joined in the summer but is already being linked with Bayern Munich, though I still think the likely defender to leave Chelsea is Trevoh Chalobah for the January window. Chelsea are looking at centre-backs but I’d not link that to Disasi.”

Should Chelsea sell Axel Disasi in January?

No way. The 25-year-old has just arrived at Chelsea and does have some good attributes as a central defender.

For example, the France international is quite strong in the air. This season, he is winning 2.4 aerial duels per game in the Premier League, which is the second-highest average in the Blues’ squad (WhoScored).

Is he the perfect defender yet? No. But the former Monaco man has time to develop into a more complete centre-half.

Chelsea just invested a lot of money in him. Are they really going to give up on a player who has not even been that bad so soon? It seems unlikely. Then again, under their current ownership, nothing seems to be out of the question these days.
