One Chelsea player could be heading for the exit door despite being involved in his side’s 5-0 win against Morecambe on Saturday.

The likes of Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei were nowhere to be seen, with the two midfielders inching closer to Chelsea departures following the opening of the transfer window.

The futures of Christopher Nkunku, Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga are also up in the air.

Yet Enzo Maresca still decided to start all three of them in the Blues’ third round FA Cup tie. Veiga has attracted interest from inside the Premier League, but a move abroad now looks more likely.

Renato Veiga agrees to join Borussia Dortmund

While Veiga has barely started in the Premier League this season, Maresca still clearly has use for him.

He played the entire 90 minutes of Chelsea’s 5-0 hammering of Morecambe, starting at left-back so that Marc Cucurella could have a little bit of a rest.

However, it looks like the 21-year-old could still depart Stamford Bridge this month, with journalist Florian Plettenberg now claiming that he has a verbal agreement with Borussia Dortmund to join the European giants.

Back in October, Peter Crouch described Veiga as a “fantastic player” for the Chelsea squad. But it now appears that the Blues could be about to lose him.

Enzo Maresca happy with Renato Veiga

The above is a very interesting development, as Maresca seems to be a fan of Veiga, even if he has overlooked him this season.

Maresca spoke about Veiga just before Chelsea’s tie against Morecambe and said: “Renato is our player, tomorrow he is going to play. He’s a player that we are happy to have with us.”

Heading into this transfer window, though, the Chelsea manager made it clear that any unhappy player would be allowed to leave west London.

After making just one start in the current Premier League campaign, it would not be a surprise if Veiga was discontent with life at the Bridge. So a transfer to Dortmund really could be possible.
