Journalist Simon Phillips has told GiveMeSport that Chelsea have already launched scouting missions for Napoli player Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

The 21-year-old has been in imperious form since making the move from Russia to the Serie A this summer.

He has six goals and five assists in the league, sending Napoli on their way to the top of the table.

His impressive displays have not been limited to domestic action either. He was extremely impressive in the Champions League group stage at the expense of Liverpool.

This brilliance has seen a number of teams, including Jurgen Klopp’s men, linked with a move for him in the summer.

Phillips meanwhile has claimed that Chelsea are firmly in the hunt for his signature, with their scouting of his talents well underway.

He said: “Chelsea are definitely one of many clubs that are watching him closely. I know for a fact that Chelsea have scouted him in recent games, so they’ve done fresh scouting missions on him.

“He’s certainly a player being talked about more and more at Chelsea as a potential target in the future.”

Chelsea will already be aware of the extortionate price they will have to pay if they are to secure a deal for Kvaratskhelia.

His agent has already claimed that a deal for him to leave is unlikely to be struck this season, and even when it is it almost certainly won’t be for less than £86m.

However, the side does look like it could need strengthening all over the pitch right now.

Particularly in attack, the Blues have looked toothless in recent weeks, and a figure with the explosiveness and ability that the young Georgian obviously has shown he can offer that with his performances this season.
