French football governing body LFP has not approved Hakim Ziyech‘s proposed loan move from Chelsea to Paris Saint-Germain after Wednesday morning’s meeting, according to L’Equipe.
The collapsed loan deal failed to be finalised before the deadline despite Chelsea, PSG, and Ziyech’s agreeing to it.
L’Equipe claims that it was all due to a series of paperwork errors from Chelsea’s lawyers.
At first, the Blues simply sent the wrong document, which PSG promptly informed the London club.
Blues representatives then reportedly rectified their mistake and returned the loan contract for the first time. However, the documents lacked the necessary signature.
Third time’s a charm, right? Not this time.
Having been informed of the second error, Chelsea reportedly sent a second version of the contract, but still without a signature.
Finally, after four tries, PSG received the signed documents from Chelsea and could have finalised the move if it was not for its already past the deadline.
L’Equipe mentions that Chelsea claimed that they were, at the time, simply too busy dealing with Enzo Fernandez transfer.
As The Independent claims, PSG were quite understandably “furious”.
The French club made a last-ditch effort by appealing for approval from LFP, but to no avail.
LFP held a meeting on Wednesday morning and decided against giving the green light for the move despite Ziyech’s already passing medical tests to join PSG, the report adds.
So, barring a surprise move to Turkey or any other country whose transfer window is still open, Ziyech will spend the rest of the season in Chelsea blue.
