Cristiano Ronaldo apparently ordered his agent to organise a move to Chelsea before eventually joining Al Nassr.
According to El Mundo, the five-time Ballon D’or winner told Jorge Mendes: “Either you get me Chelsea or Bayern (Munich), or we break up,” following his exit from Manchester United.
Ronaldo instructed his representative to locate him a new club after he was exiled from Old Trafford in November.
The 37-year-old’s contract was cut to bits due to engaging in an interview with Piers Morgan, where he openly attacked the United board, amongst other outbursts.
He was released into the wild right before the World Cup, the tournament providing the Portugal international an opportunity to present himself to the market once again.
But the attacker’s journey in Qatar actually dented his chances at earning a transfer to a top European team.
CR7 only scored once in the competition, and started on the bench for Portugal’s two knock-out fixtures.
Fernando Santos’ side were eventually eliminated by Morocco, with Ronaldo only featuring for the final 39-minutes.
Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to join Chelsea
With his country crashing out of the World Cup, the crestfallen captain’s career looked to be crumbling as well.
Rumours about the legendary goal scorer continued to circulate, with many debating where he would end up next.
Chelsea were loosely tipped as one of those who could feasibly afford to finance Ronaldo.
Yet, despite the player’s apparent desire to head to South West London, nothing ever materialised.
Mendes did subsequently end his long-standing relationship with the former-United attacker, who eventually headed to Saudi Arabia.
