Lyon manager Laurent Blanc has told Fabrizio Romano that Malo Gusto definitely won’t be joining Chelsea this month.
The Blues had finalised their list of potential signings in the right-back position, with the 19-year-old turning out to be the ideal candidate.
It’s been widely reported that personal terms have been agreed between the Blues and the player, as he looked to make the move official in the final week of the transfer window.

The potential deal would be the final touches to what has been a superb transfer window so far. Considering it is midway through the season, and clubs are far more reluctant to let go their players, the Blues have been able to completely revive their attack.
They have signed Mykhailo Mudryk, Joao Felix and Noni Madueke in an attempt to bring much-needed excitement and goals to Stamford Bridge.
A right-back has also been on the agenda following a number of weeks spent without Reece James available due to injury.
Blanc assured Gusto wont join Chelsea
This time has shown just how inadequate their back-up options are, with the club losing a lot of their impotence with the 23-year-old out injured.
This explains their interest in Gusto, however they have so far been met with restriction from Lyon.
Now, Blanc has claimed he has received assurances that they won’t be parting ways with their promising youngster this month.

He said: “The board has guaranteed to me that the players will stay until the end of the season.”
All the reports have claimed that the club will only further invest this month if the right targets come up, and they will not panic when it comes to the final hours of the window.
They have also reported to be interested in signing a midfielder this month, with Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez topping the list.
