Tony Cascarino waxed lyrical about Chelsea target Josko Gvardiol after his World Cup display yesterday for Croatia. In particular, he loved the way the defender was dribbling out from the back.
RB Leipzig centre-back Gvardiol, 20, was part of a Croatia side that held out for a goalless draw on Thursday against Belgium. As a result, Croatia qualify from Group F at the World at the expense of eliminated Belgium.
Gvardiol is now catching the eye on the international stage after impressing with German side Leipzig.
The £59,000-a-week defender is actually linked with a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
90min reports that Chelsea think they are “close” to signing £45million-rated Gvardiol.

Josko Gvardiol dribbling
TalkSPORT pundit Cascarino was really impressed with what he saw from Gvardiol against Belgium, especially in his confidence to dribble out from defence and drive up the pitch.
Also, he highlighted an amazing last-ditch tackle he made inside the box to deny a Romelu Lukaku effort.
“It was definitely the tackle of the tournament so far,” Cascarino told talkSPORT.
“The goal is going to be at Romelu Lukaku’s mercy, and he gets his foot just to it, he knows exactly where Lukaku is. Fantastic defending.
“And he did it all night, he made a couple of surging runs in the game where he literally ran at the back four of Belgium. I just thought he was superb.”
