Someone at Chelsea wants a new striker to be signed soon and has one player in mind.
That is what journalist Simon Phillips is reporting.
Phillips has claimed on his Substack that “one high powered member” of the Chelsea hierarchy wants the club to sign a centre-forward as soon as possible.
And according to the journalist, the man who said member wants at Stamford Bridge is Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
The Nigerian will not come cheap, though, with TEAMtalk recently suggesting that he could cost £120m.

Nicolas Jackson seems to have the trust of his manager Mauricio Pochettino, but it does not look like that will stop Chelsea from entering the market for a new No.9.
Do Chelsea really need to sign a new striker as soon as possible?
If qualifying for the Champions League is still a possibility come January, then yes, they need to go out and buy a centre-forward and Osimhen would be perfect.
He possesses the kind of firepower that could take Chelsea back into the top four if they are not too far behind fourth at the start of the new year. Last season, Osimhen was able to score 31 goals in all competitions for Napoli.
However, if Champions League football is gone by then, then the Blues probably can afford to wait until the summer transfer window, where Osimhen may be a bit cheaper and more strikers are likely to be available.
This Chelsea team has more than enough to qualify for the Europa League or Europa Conference League. Pochettino‘s men just need to put a run together.
If Chelsea could sign a striker today, then that would be great and they probably would do. But come January, if the club do not have much to play for, then that urgency for a No.9 may decrease until the summer.
