Chelsea youngster Marc Guiu has struggled for regular minutes during his debut season at Stamford Bridge, so could he end up leaving in the final few days of the transfer window?
Marc Guiu, 19, is one of so many youngsters in the Chelsea squad after joining from Barcelona last summer. He’s still trying to force his way into Enzo Maresca’s plans on a permanent basis, though.
The Spanish centre-forward has taken his chances in Europe this campaign by scoring six goals in six games during the Conference League group phase. However, he’s only made two Premier League appearances so far because Nicolas Jackson is the first-choice striker.
Earlier in the January transfer window, Chelsea denied Coventry City’s request to take Guiu on loan because they wanted to see how the rest of the window panned out.
Time is now running out to complete business because deadline day is 3 February.

How Chelsea now feel about loaning out Marc Guiu
Graeme Bailey has exclusively told The Chelsea Chronicle that Chelsea’s current plan is to keep Guiu with them. This is despite interest from two clubs chasing promotion in the English Championship this season.
He said: “Understand West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough are both keen on loaning Marc Guiu.
“As it stands, things could change, but Chelsea is not planning to loan him out.”
West Brom sit sixth in the Championship table right now inside the play-off positions, while Middlesbrough are just outside in seventh. While we’ve got full belief that Chelsea youngster Guiu would score goals for fun in the second tier, it looks like his development will continue as part of the senior group at Stamford Bridge.
Joe Cole is convinced Guiu can be a big star in Chelsea colours, so let’s see if he can take some big strides in 2025.

What Enzo Maresca said about Marc Guiu this week
During his press conference on Friday, Chelsea head coach Maresca did make an interesting claim about Guiu.
Maresca believes Guiu is improving and is ready to play more for Chelsea. The Blues manager said: “Marc is improving a lot, to be honest. He’s doing fantastic. Day after day, he is more ready for that kind of game. Sometimes the decision I take is because I see something; sometimes good, sometimes not. For sure, I think Marc is day after day more ready.”
As long as Guiu gets opportunities in the second half of the campaign, we’ve got no problem with keeping him around the team.
Jackson is in a rut of seven consecutive league games without scoring, so the Chelsea youngster should come into Maresca’s thinking for the upcoming fixture at home to West Ham on Monday night.
