How much Rennes are now demanding from Chelsea to sign Jeremy Jacquet this month

Jeremy Jacquet is the man on most Chelsea fans’ lips right now as the links start to heat up.

Liam Rosenior has only been here for a matter of a week or so, and he’s already identified an area of strength at Chelsea, which comes at centre-back.

The Chelsea owners have brought forward their plans to sign a central defender after witnessing the Arsenal loss, as one thing became evident.

Experience is the missing ingredient in defence. Gone are the days of being able to rely on Thiago Silva to control things, with a rather young bunch at Stamford Bridge right now.

Despite the lack of a senior figure, it appears as if Chelsea’s sights are on a younger player.

QUESTION: Who is out there that fits the description for Chelsea?👀

Rennes informs Chelsea of their £57 million price tag for Jeremy Jacquet

Chelsea were thought to be stepping up their interest in Jeremy Jacquet just before the January transfer window opened, but nothing has really developed thus far.

According to L’Equipe, Bayern Munich have joined the likes of Chelsea, Man United, Arsenal, and Liverpool in the race to sign Jeremy Jacquet.

However, Rennes want a similar fee to that for Jeremy Doku when he joined Man City (£57m).

A hefty fee for a central defender who is rather fresh to the scene, but there have been comparisons between him and William Saliba.

Would YOU have Antonio Rudiger back at Chelsea, and why? 🧱

Is Jeremy Jacquet as good as people say?

The huge difference in duel percentage is exactly what Chelsea are looking for.

Chelsea currently ranks 18th in the Premier League for aerial duel success and sits 12th for ground duel win percentage, highlighting their weakness.

Levi Colwill will have helped, but his absence has been felt massively.

While Jacquet has impressive stats and all the potential in the world, the £57 million fee is a lot to splash out on a defender who you can’t guarantee settles straight into the Premier League.
