Jorginho has admitted that he encouraged Kai Havertz to leave Chelsea for Arsenal earlier in the summer transfer window.

The Italy international made the revelation when speaking to Arsenal’s official YouTube channel.

So, what did Jorginho say about Kai Havertz? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well – as you may have already heard – the Germany international moved to Arsenal in a deal worth £65m back in June.

Now, Jorginho has revealed he played a part in the transfer materialising.

The 31-year-old said: “When I heard it was a possibility (for him to join Arsenal), I called him straight away! I was like, you need to come! I just want the best for everyone! Everyone wins here! It was a win-win.”

Whatever Jorginho said to Havertz, it clearly did the trick.

The 24-year-old signed a five-year contract at the Emirates Stadium, where he reunites with the Italian in north London.

Jorginho and Havertz shared a pitch on 84 occasions for Chelsea, combining for five goals as the pair won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup together at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea did well out of Havertz and Jorginho deals

In our view, Chelsea carried out some impressive business when offloading Jorginho and Havertz.

The Blues received £12m from Arsenal for the Brazil-born maestro back in January, meaning Chelsea have made a combined £77m from two players who didn’t really look like they were going anywhere at Stamford Bridge.

Specifically, the deal for Havertz was fine work by those on the recruitment team at Chelsea, as a £65m fee for a forward with just nine Premier League goals last season is an excellent return, to say the least.

Hopefully, Jorginho and Havertz do not come back to haunt Chelsea next term, and the Blues can improve on last season’s woeful finish of 12th.
